Quotes from Kids

"By being at Covenant House Missouri I’ve been able to obtain my GED and enroll in college. I’ve also completed the job class and gotten a job. I’ve been through the life skills class and other informative programs like cooking classes, guitar classes and art classes."

- Lester

"I got kicked out of my old High School for missing too many days of school. It’s hard to work, keep an apartment, raise my little sister and go to school all at the age of 17. My father died when I was little and I haven’t seen my Mom since I was 13. While getting kicked out of school for truancy I also lost my apartment. My sister got placed in foster care and I was suddenly homeless and living on the streets. The school social worker told me about Covenant House Missouri.

Fortunately they had a bed available. I moved into the girls house, pretty much right away. While living there they told me about their GED classes at the Community Service Center. I started going to classes and now I’m working toward my GED.

I love Covenant House Missouri. It’s the family and home I never had!”

- Ashley, age 18

"I’ve been in Covenant House Missouri for 10 months. Covenant House Missouri has helped me in many ways, they helped me get through High School and I have maintained a full time job while being here. I have made new friends and I get along well with all of the staff. I have acquired the highest achievement here which is level 3. I have privileges, but I know I have to run with the program to keep it. I enjoy being here and I am treated with respect and vice versa.

- Dajamil, age 19
