Staff Retreat

The staff of CHMO had a wonderful retreat day at Pere Marquette in Grafton, IL yesterday.  We began the day learning about the Bald Eagle and then loading into vans for some muddy eagle watching.  We spotted a few Bald Eagles and flocks of White Pelicans along the river banks.  After a few hours in the great outdoors, we had an awesome lunch at the famous Pere Marquette Lodge.  The afternoon was spent building team spirit among the staff by building donated bikes for our youth.  We left feeling refreshed and renewed in our commitment to work together to help the many youth who come to us in need.  Thanks to everyone who made the day possible!

CHMO’s 1st Valentine Dance

blog1

Thanks to the hard work of staff like Ms. Marsha, Ms. Siri and Ms. Shonda, our youth and staff took part in CHMO’s first ever Valentine Dance on Monday night.  Our training room was transformed into a Valentine’s Dance Hall complete with chocolates and other Valentine treats.  Youth and staff wore their finest Valentine attire and hit the dance floor when the music started (rumor has it, Ms. Kris is the best dancer!).

Creative Therapy

A group of juniors from Villa Duchesne High School chose to do their service learning project at Covenant House this year.  The girls came several times and did everything from scrubbing walls to making decorations for our upcoming Valentine’s party.  They’re pictured above working with our youth in a creative therapy session.  We appreciate all they accomplished and hope their time at CHMO was an opportunity to learn more about the struggles of their homeless peers.  Thanks girls!!!
